I took a school math placement exam which gave me 4 credits. I currently finished a total of 15 credits this fall as a freshman. So currently I should have 19 credits at the moment. Next semester I am taking 14 credits. Is that too few credit being taken? I am thinking about transferring to another college and I'm afraid if this would hurt my chances or not. Thanks.

i would deff. take another course to be safe, 17credits will be much more impressive

The way I see it, if you're looking to transfer, the amount of credits you take each semester are important, but what is more important is the rigor or "quality" of the courses you take. You could take 18 credits but have them all entail classes that are fairly easy and straightforward (Intro classes, movie seminars, etc). Or you could take 15 credits but have tougher classes like upper level Business, or higher Science/Math classes, etc.

I think you really need to balance your workload and make sure you are able to excel with what your credit load offers. For example you don't want to try and take 18 credits with them all be loaded with extremely tough/time consuming classes. This will only make it incredibly hard for you, and might hurt your GPA. It's my impression that college officials will be more impressed by a solid GPA with 14 or 15 credits of tough classes, than an average GPA with 18 or above credits.

Define solid/impressive. I'm doing 21 credits (but 5 of them are music lessons in viola, piano, composition - the others are 4 four-credit classes) and hopefully. pulling above a 3.7. Would a transfer committee be more impressed with a 4.0 at 16 credits?

Everything I said is merely my opinion. However, with you taking 21 credits and pulling above a 3.7, that is very impressive. I said that I personally wouldn't recommend taking a lot of credits if you think your grades would be affected, but you haven't let your course load impact your performance, so more power to you. :)
