Anyone. I'm curious as to how many actually got deferred? Also, The e-mail says that they take around 10% of applicants through RD of those that are deferred, but the e-mail continues to say that they also take the majority of the acceptees from the regular pool of RD applicants. If the acceptance rate for STanford is only 10% how is it possible to accept around 10% of deferred AND they say the majority of the acceptees come from the regular pool??

Does this make sense to anyone?? Please help me understand. Thanks guys!

If you were deferred, you have basically the same chance of acceptance in the regular round as everyone else applying- around 10%.

But, if they try to take from the RD pool for their total of 10% acceptees, aren't our chances less than 10% because they try to take MOST from the RD pool instead of the EA pool?? Help!

i think if we are deferred to RD, we are a part of RD pool,
maybe they jz dont seperate us from it,and it is possible that the 10% goes the same for both the total acceptance rate for RD and Defer

See posts #21 and #23 in the Deferred SCEA thread... sounds like pretty reliable data:

according to my college counselor, yeah, it was 16%/10%/74%. He was really surprised too.

To clarify...16% accepted, 10% deferred and 74% rejected.

Ohhh.gosh..i thought dat was 16% deferred 2010,10% deferred 2011,74%deferred 2012...
i heard other ppl saying there r usually 10% deferred too,but since most of my friends are deferred im not sure wat the rate is likely to be this year..

Actually menloparkmom, in the regular round, the admissions rate is around 5%....they average that with the 16% or so in the early round, and that is how they get "10%" as the overall admissions rate (I know this to be true, when I visited Yale, they clarified this).

So then, deferred students are twice as likely to be admitted in RD than those who just apply RD... Right?

can someone please explain...
