Hello everyone,

I am starting college soon and I feel overwhelmed with the EC activities I want to do. I would love to do Judo three times and a week for an hour each and play in a guitar group once a week for an hour. I would also love to organize a community event for the spring and I also plan to work part time. I am taking three classes at a uni that has a quarter system. Will I be overwhelmed with the above activities while also taking course work that is more difficult than any of my high school work combined?

Thanks!

Too many would be when you are unable to keep up strong performance with your coursework. What number of activities that is depends on what the activities are what your classes are, and your abilities.

I don’t think it sounds very overwhelming or difficult, but it depends on how good you are at managing your time and how well prepared you are for university. If you start to feel overwhelmed, do not be afraid to cut back on something.

your first year, try a bunch of ECs to see what you like best, academically and socially. Your second year is when you should start cutting down. My first year, I was a member of maybe 10 clubs, but by the end of the year, I was only going to events for maybe 5. Now, I’m president of one, publicity chair for another, and I have two other big commitments. And that’s enough!
