How many EC's is too many??

Harry potter role play to show your a fan?!

It’s too many when it starts to affect your GPA.

lol, Christian. I know, Sezon.

I wish there was a newspaper club at my school…next year I will be in Journalism (Newspaper) but for only one semester! This sucks.

I’d think 4-5 after school clubs would be pushing it, and that’s not including Sports.

There is no limit for Sports.

I don’t think so…some weeks I’d have a club every day of the week after school lol seriously

you decide when it’s too much.

one rule of thumb. don’t join a club if you have no interest in it, it’ll bore you to death if you end up having a bunch pile up.

if you’re looking to impress colleges: academic related clubs , at least one that resonates you having an “interest” and a service club as in junior civitan, etc.
one of the kids i knew who had it all got rejected because all he had was academics and no service clubs which showed that he actually did something for the community. applied to cornell or columbia, one of the two. he was bummed out.

that isnt to many

Well, you have to make sure you enjoy each and every one of them. Otherwise, it’ll seem like a chore instead of a club that you enjoy. I’m on the Robotics team, AcaDeca, Math team, Student Government, Model UN, and Interact Club, but that’s only because I love each and every one for what they are, and I make sure to give each one their respective time. If you can do that, then that’s fine.

I think the one theme about ECs that should come through loud and clear is that it’s not about the number of things you do or even the number of hours you put in. It’s about doing something your’re passionate about and sticking with it in a way that really makes a difference in your school or community or even your own home (i.e. you had to work to help with family expenses). The laundry list of clubs and activities that almost every top applicant has won’t distinquish you.
