How many examples should I use for the SAT essay? On my first SAT I used 3
1 Personal, 1 Historical, 1 Athletic and got a 10. But, I'm thinking that if I use 2 1-historical/1-litterary/athletic/scientific it will be easier to develop and write a strong conclusion then if I use 3 examples which take too much time.

2 or 3 is fine, just make sure to fill up both pages. i don't think it matters. like you said, 2 will be more developed, but 3 will have more content.

in 8th grade i used Joan of Arc as my only example (4 paragraphs) and filled up both pages and got a 11
i've heard people say you should never use personal examples (which is what i was taught and go by)
but recently i also heard people say you should...but the historical thing worked for me.. lol

I usually use 2 examples (1 literary/historical, 1 personal)

2 excellent examples > 3 good examples.

^ true
don't load your essay with examples when you know you don't have the time or the room on your paper to fully explain what you mean.
I'd definitely do a 4 paragraph format, but have more impressive content

i always do 4 paragraph format =p

I prefer one personal, one literary, and one historical - but can usually just come up with two.
