How many Extra-curriculars is 'optimal'?

Yes Yes, I know that it is your COMMITMENT and DEDICATION to your activities that matters. But i was wondering how exactly do colleges find out exactly how much effort you put into all of your activities if you just list them on your common app?

Also, I am still debating whether or not to include an out of school service organization that I am 'semi-' involved in.

Right now, my full-time extra curriculars consist of:
a sport for three years (school team)
Writer for two school magazines (editor for one of them)
Dance club (leadership position)
politics club (leadership position)
In-school service club
out-of-school service once a month

Does this list seem sufficient for most schools? (I am applying to around 25-35 range on USNWR). For the service organization that I am somewhat involved in, should I include it too? One thing preventing me from reporting it is that I am actually not that involved in it, and i am scared that maybe colleges will discover this and use it against me...

please help with my situation!

BUMP 10char…

BUMP somebody share input pls!

Its really not quantity that’s important, quality is better.

I mean you can be in like 100 clubs but colleges prefer commitment. I suggest that you put the activities you’ve excelled in first then those you are just a member of. Explain why you excel and you should be fine if you’ve demonstrated great commitment and leadership in 2 to 3 and participated in like 3 more

Is 4 leadership positions a bit too much?

Nothing is too much :stuck_out_tongue: as long as you don’t make it seem like you are a super person…I mean it is impossible to be president of every club…
