So in for sure going to be taking spanish, chem, and math II. However, I was thinking of maybe taking USH because Im already taking the APUSH exam so I feel like it’s worth it, even though I haven’t learned any history lol. So, should I take ush or no, if I’m applying to all the ivys, MIT, Michigan, etc.
Lastly, how else, besides practice tests, do you study for these LOL I think I’ll be fine, since I’m studying for ap chem now anyways
3 SAT subject tests are more than enough. More than that, you run the risk of being viewed as a test-taking drone, assuming the AO’s even see any scores other than your highest 2. That said, if you are a heritage speaker, I would opt for USH before Spanish.
Yea but spanish is an easy 800. I’d have to study extensively for ush. I think I’m gonna take ush anyways bc I’m studying for the ap exam so I might as well. More opinions are welcomed!!
Which is why many colleges discourage its submission from heritage speakers.
In my opinion, the SAT II for USH was much more detail-oriented than the AP, so you still might have to study extra for it. I echo @skieurope’s comments about taking Spanish if you are a heritage speaker. Some colleges explicitly say that they will discount subject tests in the students mother tongue.
In any case, you definitely don’t need more than 3 subject tests anyway.
Ok but if I have an 800 in math 2 and chem, another 800 in Spanish looks better than a 720-750 in ush. Also, penn requires all testing history to be sent, what will they think of a 720-750 in ush? What other schools do that too?
Not necessarily actually. If you take a look here: http://www.brown.edu/admission/undergraduate/how-would-brown-view-sat-subject-test-my-native-language and here: https://undergrad.admissions.columbia.edu/apply/first-year/testing it’s pretty clear that schools don’t look too favourably upon SAT IIs in a native language.
In any case, a 720-750 is perfectly fine. You’re going to have to look up your schools here: https://professionals.collegeboard.com/profdownload/sat-score-use-practices-list.pdf to find out about their policies. Off the top of my head, I do know that Yale requires that you submit all of your SAT/SAT II scores OR all of your ACT scores.
