Could anyone explain how active the sororities and eating houses are for Davidson women?
Also how exclusive are they in selecting members? Do social activities on campus revolve around the greek organizations?

Eating houses are by self-selection and according to posts made by a student earlier this year there is only one sorority, the recently established chapter of a historically black sorority.

My info is from a year ago and from a local family with 2 daughters who finished at Davidson. The frats are traditional and not everyone will be given a bid who rushes. They have some houses on the fringe of the campus for their frats.

Girls eating houses are more open. You are guaranteed your first choice by your second year at Davidson, although you have less control on this first year…this could be old info but fairly recent…I would imagine by second year, you tend to put your name in with a few friends you have made.

Davidsonians are very cordial and civil to one another in general. Athletes live on halls with everyone else. Because Davidson has a very strong sports program, obviously many students also are involved with their teams socially as well.
