How many grad programs should I apply to if pursuing MSW?

Hello,

I have heard several numbers in response to this question, but I don't know if what I'm majoring in makes a difference in the answer. I will be applying to graduate school for social work to receive my MSW. Can anyone give me a recommendation for how many schools I should apply to based on personal experience? Also, I am looking into macro level study for the MSW- an area I know is fairly unpopular in social work programs. Does that increase my chances of getting in, thus decreasing the number of places I need to apply? Any information would be very appreciated.

I think 3-5 programs is enough for admissions. Although macro practice is not as popular as clinical practice, most of the top-ranked schools have decent macro coursework.
