How many have heard this?

On a campus visit, I heard an adcom say that they put the short "Why Chicago?" essays through the "Cheesecake Factory" test. She said that if the essay made sense when they swapped UofC with CF, then it wasn't good.

Has anyone else heard this?

No, nay, never.

I haven't heard it, but it's good advice.

Hahah redonkulus.

Wow this sounds like something UChicago would do, judging from the essay prompts. After I write mine I'm going to try this.

Oh wow that's funny. Definitely just tried this on my essay right now, haha.

You must mean the full essay, not the 1-liner answer. You can always twist a 1-liner to fit anything, I am amused that they even ask for it.

If I were the UChicago adcom, I would use the "CF test" to weed out the inadmittable applicants, but then I would take this one step further - I would substitute "Northwestern" for "Chicago", and if it still made perfect sense I would think that the kid had not done their homework and has not shown real interest in Chicago.

Wow I wish I'd known about this earlier.

haha, that's pretty funny, AND clever

Because Cheesecake doesn't have a Core. Just creamy goodness.
