It's not my style of writing but, hey, if I could get an extra point simply by having one counter-argument paragraph then so be it.

I scored an 11 and I think I mentioned the counter-argument once–just a sentence or two.

mentioning a counter argument and then bashing it is the best way to get 10+. but if the rest of your essay is messed up then it woudln’t help I guess.

Is 10 considered a good score?

I made a huge mistake and forgot a counter argument…i realized this right after the test.
Nonetheless, i still had several other convincing non-counter arguments and got a 10. To compare, scored an 11 on my SAT essay (first SAT).

I got an 11 with no counter argument.

I got an 11, and though I had no paragraph dedicated to a counter-argument, I placed appropriate counter-arguments throughout the body.

Is it true that the more you write, the higher your score?
Even if the quality of the writing isn’t that great?

xxInkxx, do a search here for essay or writ* and you’ll find that 95% of the time, it’s true.

I got an 11 on the essay, and I counter-argued in the third body paragraph.

heres what I did.

intro paragraph (w/ a good hook)
para 2 reason 1
para 3 reason 2
para 4 counter an opposing view
para 5 conclusion

i didn’t waste any time ‘planning’, i planned quickly and things came together as I wrote..AND i filled up almost everything. I try to fill up everything though.

Do that, and throw in a few impressive words here and there and you should do well.

Good luck!!

Now, unfortunately the writing section doesn’t count for much, so hopefully I can get my composite score up by a ton hahha.

i provided a counter argument and got a 7… i don’t know why.. i’ve gotten 3 8’s and a 7 on my writings…

but my composite ACT is a 34.. so i don’t think the writing will impact me at all.

i got a 12 (woohoo!) and i mentioned the counter argument, basically i tried to hit every possible reason i could think of and what people might say to bash my reasons and then i made sure that i proved those counter agruments wrong (i wrote a lot though, you could always try bigger handwriting if length is a problem…)
