I was thinking about getting involved in some research in a lab setting and was curious about how many hours per week I would be expected to work in the lab.

Generally 10-20. Research is pretty time consuming so it’s best to know what you’re getting into and be able to commit while balancing school work. Professors know academics are important, but people still manage to get good grades and still work in a lab.

Ah ok thanks. I just found out the lab I was considering joining requires 15 hours/week as a minimum. I’m already part of another lab (social science) though and this would be too much to do on top of school work.
