Any premed students at top universities want to chime in?

Doesn't matter whether you're at a "top university" or not, premeds are going to have a lot of work. Whether it's more or less than the 'average' premed depends entirely on your own ability.

Why exactly do premeds have a lot of work? Premed is just a required set of courses. Are the courses crazy hard? Not really. Premed's difficulty all depends on what kind of courses you take and what your actual major is.

premed refers more to the basic set of requirements that any aspiring doctor has to take to enter medical school. this includes 1 year of biology, physics, chemistry, and math. most of these courses, especially at the introductory level, are designed to weed out as many students as possible through difficult tests and a ****load of material to learn.

It's not necessarily that the courses are are crazy hard. They're not.

But premeds need to keep a high GPA, and they work crazy hard to achieve that. That means you have to be at the top of your class in most of your classes, especially classes with curves.

I think it only makes sense that only hardworking and smart people should become doctors....if you can't expect to handle the rigorous course materials, how are you gonna be able to handle the work that a doctor does?
