Because this is a "high school life" thread, and a major aspect of high school life is lying?

He was probably just being sarcastic to see how many of us would believe him and get ticked off.

the guy who said he did 20,000 hours, why bother lying like that?

that would be:

6 1/2 years at 8 hours a day

2.2 years at 24 hours a day

or

10 year at 5 hours a day

why bother making stuff up?

It's true. I work very hard

Oh paul, always making trouble.
Here's some sunshine, if you want. Take as much as you need.....

0- I haven't found anything that interested me yet :)

maybe 50, just started volunteering though

75, what i needed to get 100% bright futures.

about 40. I tried counting the other day for NHS but I haven't really kept track.

I did do 14 hours in one weekend, though. That was fun.

I have around "80" hours even though I actually did maybe 10 in my HS career

350, will exceed 400 by the end of this year

At this moment, I have just a bit over 200 hours of community serivce from the local hospital where I volunteer (but they only only give hours in sets of 100s). By the end of next year (senios year), I would have accumulated over 100 more hours from various tutoring sessions from the honor societies. I would also like to try to make out my hours at the hospital at 300, so maybe I could get around 400 by the end of high school. :D

I'd say that I have about 100 right now.

Hopefully I can up it to 400 by the end of high school as well.

since freshman year it should be well over 1000 by now(im a junior). i do a lot in and out of school mostly fundraising and events(i just raised my first grand for darfur!) and stuff with art and children and i have a paying job too. it gets in the way of my social life and academics sometimes, im kind of hoping it will make up for whatevers lacking in my apps.

emmmily is that grand for Darfur being used to hire private security contractors? Because if it's not the money is going to waste and the situation is not going to change at all.

haha i had 50 when i graduated, which was about the 4th highest in my class. most people at my school have none and there is no requirement at all for graduation.

of course not. most of it is going to the AU. i know what im doing :).

plus i wanted to add that i really care about my service. im worried that some people think i do it just for my apps. if your schools didn't have requirments would you guys still do voluntary work?

I've got 24 for this year, did about the same last year. There is absolutely no community service requirement at my school - I've done my hours for NHS.

This was part of the national debate topic :D. Anyways, yes most of us would. If you look, there's plenty of people that don't have reqs for school. I didn't and I still do a ton.

Roughly how many hours of volunteer/community service do you need if you want to get into an Ivy League/top college?

umm prob about 400, mostly for the hospital

a lot
10 years in church so that adds up bigtime
and hospital hours, around 150?
