How many hrs do you study a day???

I am just curious. I am an engineering student as well (freshman)

How many hrs do you guys spend each day on studying ?(not including class time)

and how about you?
(I'm not a student yet...)

mech E here, usually between 3 and 12.

wow, pretty broad range.... can you give average?

on a regular day with just readings and hw in every class, 5 hours.

holy crap!!!!!!!!!!!!

jeffl, what college are you attending?

I'm a sophomore at Umich.

I have almost all m/w/f classes so I spend most of tuesdays and thursdays studying in between activities, as well as most of the weekend days. It is difficult to put a number value on it, but I say I spend at least 2 hours out of class for each credit, some classes are close to 3 or 4 (physics), and others less (literature). [aero eng freshman]

I am taking a lab class that is time consuming at three hours a week for one credit, but very little homework is assigned. (just reading the lab manual before class and starting any problems)

This is very dependent on how quickly you pick up material, how much professors decided to assign that particular week, if you work in groups for problem sets, and more. =)

I spend about 4 to 5 hours a day doing homework and studying (except for study week where I probably study about 16 hours a day). Next year, I will be a junior, and will probably be doing more like 7 or 8 hours of homework a day on average.

0-.5 hours a day in high school.

Hope undergrad engineering won't require alot of studying...

hahaha ... funny..

jeffl, how do you like UMich engineering? I got accepted and I may consider going. Also, how are the class sizes and the professors? Does the work load get very overwhelming? Also, do you enjoy yourself there when you're not studying? Thanks.

if you like to party and you are organized, Michigan Engineering is for you. If you can't make yourself goto class, not motivated, easily distracted when you encounter something difficult to overcome, then do not come to Michigan. Class size-big, Professors-excellent, workload-not overwhelming, if you were an organized student. I don't like to get myself drunk every weekend, i play sports with friends.

We tell our students to plan on studying 3 hours for every credit. So if you have a three credit class you need to reserve 9 hours a week for that class (outside of class). You won't always need that much time but you should prepare like you will. That meets not having an outside job with too many hours.

so are a teacher dr reynolds? where at?

I'm at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith

www.uafortsmith.edu/Engineering

I go to CMU and I spend 6-7 hours on M T F

10 hrs on Tuesday

Every other Thrusday (b/c of lab) I spend 10 hours.

When i have lab it goes down to 4-5

What does this get you?? an awesome GPA

an awesome GPA but no life

yeah ppl with these GPA have no life whatsoever, IMO Gpa don't matter all that much. Test Scores are much More Important.

i Never study in high skool and I get high test scores, thats why gpa doesnt' matter,.. and i hope i don't have to in college..

a student could be smart but don't like school, hence the bad GPA and do GoOD on Test and its an indicator on how sucessful they are in life.
