how many in class of 2012 turned down Duke for another school?

I think I might turn down Duke for UGA....for purely financial reasons. I wouldn't do the following, but I'm wondering....what would happen if I accepted both... wouldn't that buy me more time to think about it? How would they respond?

it would buy u more time... i have the same option for clemson (also for financial reasons)....

it's just unethical, i guess

There really is no point to "buying time" if you can't go for financial reasons.
Unless you are waiting to see if you will win the lottery next week ;)

turning down duke for JHU (BME)..

D chose Dartmouth. It's a hard decision. Duke is a great school.

turned down Duke for Emory!

^^ no offense, but that's an awful decision unless you're an emory scholar. Duke is a much better school in so many ways, including in the areas which Emory considers itself to be awesome(premed and business)

CNI - gotta disagree with you. There are so many different reasons to select any one school over any other school that I don't think you can apply a blanket statement like that...

Good point, I was pretty brash- my bad. I just really don't like emory lol

I'm an Emory Scholar with a full ride, and i like the atmosphere there so much better.

^Northeast boy, here. What is an Emory? :p Is it like an Emory Board?
jk congrats on Emory Scholar!

Going to Duke over Harvard, MIT, Caltech, Columbia, Cornell, Olin, Harvey Mudd, & Tufts.

...very happy with my decision

Clearly, the no-brainer decision in your situation.;)

Turned down Duke for Princeton this month. But a part of me is still madly in love with Duke!

Blugh - that article about Duke comparing itself to other schools is exactly why I crossed it off of my list. It screams "Me too!"

I chose Carnegie Mellon over Duke. CMU gave me a really big scholarship.

princeton!
blackwell is tiny.

Chicago Maroon | U of C acceptance rate hits record low

A brief one-page article on admissions at UChic this year--

Number of Ivies mentioned: 4
Number of times "Harvard" appears: 4
Total number of mentions of Ivy League schools: 8

Oooh burn. I saw that coming. But here's the difference: UChicago wasn't comparing its status to the other schools (except maybe columbia), it was more in fear for its yield. While Duke was trying to fight for its spot, Chicago was explaining how yea, we only admitted so many, but all these other schools will probably suck them away. It's different.

isn't it fun to bash a school that you did not get accepted into, LouisCope08?!?!

have fun freezing!
