How many students berkeley admit from India? Will SAT score of 2060 help

Berkeley Undergraduate Profile

http://opa.berkeley.edu/statistics/UndergraduateProfile.pdf

For the record, 2060 isn’t gonna help you get in.

@mrinal
What I meant: will SAT score of 2060 hurt my chances. How much chance do I stand? Stats: Chance an Indian applicant (Check this post)… So I asked how much Indians are admitted to berkeley each year…Please ask Tizil7 to also advice me on my chances as he is i berkeley

Tizil ain’t gonna reply man. He is like REALLY REALLY busy :p

As I said, UCB is like pretty selective for internationals. Check out the links anialways posted for the stats !

As UCB doesn’t gives aid to internationals. Is there an alternate way to pay for college?

Thanks for a reply… mrinal and anialways
@ codeguy: There may be,but most likely, you will be under a huge debt if you cant pay for the college

collstu

Send a PM to Tizil and you are likely to hear from him after 21 December, that is when almost all colleges end their Fall semester. He must be busy with Finals right now.

As far as I know, no bank in india is going to give me that much amount as loan. And even if i manage to get one, how much time will it take to pay it back?

The UCs don’t really give aid to International students. Atleast nothing substantial. I need FA to go! I first wrote the SAT in Jan and got something in early 2000s. I wrote it again this Dec . Scores due tomorrow ! So where are u ppl applying? UChicago was my dream school but I didn’t get in. :-/ Pinning my hopes on other colleges!

tizil7 got lucky!

Berkeley Engineering is hard to get into. 2200+, solid math/science courses are a must. Berkeley is holistic so essays do count, 2000+ might be ok for letters and science. Don’t apply if no personal finances as UCs do not give aid to internationals. And no, tizil7 isn’t lucky, he had a solid resume (AP classes, sat, extra curriculars…) and got into ivies as well but chose Berkeley engineering.

around 5-6 INDIANs got into berkeley this year.

Thats very less as berkeley admits around 1100 internationals.there are 5 admits from dpsrkp alone

I dunno why everyone thinks UCB is so competitive. When I applied in my year (Class of '15), I made it and I know about 5-6 people personally who are in Berkeley in that class. Admissions must’ve become harder.

Ah, due to the HUGE budget cuts in california, the UC’s have started accepting more international students( paying full fees) and hence it has become easier for students in india. 10 students got in from my school and 2 attended.

Tizil7 was lucky?
He got into Brown and Columbia as well. I presume you think that was luck as well.

As for UCB, the UC’s are extremely objective in their applications.
Holistic, yes, but to a certain point. They do care a lot about marks, and your grades. So keep those up.

@Happyasever - Yes Berkeley is facing budget cuts but they still give a lot of preference to in-state student. A 2050 in state would be about 2150 International.

@collstu - Berkeley does take a lot of Indian students. But 2060 is quite bad. You should have atleast a 2100 to apply as an international applicant. And if you want to get into one of their more competitive courses (Comp. Engineering, Bioengineering, etc.). You should have a 2250. I personally have a 2180, so just hoping I get in.

^That 2250 number is just not true. I know plenty CS kids who are international who scored 2150+ and made it.

I am just saying 2250 is recommended, especially if you are international. College admissions are getting more competitive each year and Berkeley’s acceptance rate is predicted to fall by about 3%. Their EECS dept. is one of the best in the country and they get a lot of applicants with 2350+
