I am getting letters of rec from my APUSH and Physics teachers, but I’ve heard that you can submit supplemental recs of teachers that know you outside of school. I dont know if I should ask the advisor of the business club at my school for an additional letter of rec. I’ve been in this club for all 4 years and I am currently the president. I’ve also won international awards through this club. In addition, this teacher wrote an essay that nominated another teacher for teacher of the year, so I assume that she’s a very good writer. For the most part I am applying to competitive schools like UPENN, MIT, etc
Each school has their own policy if they allow an additional rec or not so check on their website.
For most schools, an additional ref is optional while some schools like Yale I believe strictly do not want supplemental recs, they only want 2 from academic teachers.
Each college has their own requirements so check with them. Don’t assume anything.
