How many luggages should I pack for college?

I have one so far but it doesn’t fit
all of clothes yet I may have packed a
little bit too much of warm clothes.
It’s pretty big but more of the standard
big size. Boxes and bags aren’t a
problem.#wvu19

It depends on where your university is located.

Most of your stuff you can buy near the college.

Pack as lightly as possible because you are the one who has to carry it.

You need something warm and you also comfortable shoes.

Bring your laptop if you need to.

I recently saw a new dormitory room that only has 30" width of hanging space and about 40" hanging length because two drawers were beneath it. Two more drawers were under the bed. There was no dresser. There was less than half the storage space I enjoyed in my college dorm which was built in 1967. I’d say the room can only hold a weeks worth of clothing, one dressy outfit a jacket and a winter coat. Pack light and shop when you get to school.

Also, consider where you’ll put that luggage all semester.

What are the luggage weight limitations of your flight?

Look into what students at your college do over summer. There are some really good storage companies that work with students at my school, so people leave most of their stuff at the storage companies over summer. If students at your college regularly do this as well, then maybe paying the extra fees to take the luggage may be worth it, or you can buy stuff there since you’ll have it for a good 4 years. If you would have to transport everything back and forth every summer, probably better to learn how to deal with less.

Also, if you are planning on flying home for Thanksgiving or some other fall break, take home your summer clothes when you fly home and swap them out for your warmer winter clothes.

Honestly I remember asking the same question as a freshman and my advice would be this:
Don’t do luggage’s. I was embarrassed to do this my first year but my second year I took big garbage bags and put my clothes there that way I don’t have to worry about storing my luggage at the end of the year.

Or, you could do collapsible duffle bags and stick them in a drawer.

Also, how much you should pack, as others have mentioned, depends on how often you will be coming home, how far away from home you are and where your college is. If your school is in the middle of nowhere, you should pack things like food and medicine to last you along with colder-weather clothing too- for me, I was near a big mall and was able to buy sweaters and stuff.
