How many NM Semi Finalists at your school? Is my school abnormal?

in one of the highest cutoff states,
public,
~ 40/600 NMSF’s
~ 70/600 commended
total- 110

Mine had 31 semifinalists out of about 150 seniors.

We had 5 NMSFs in a class of 194. That’s pretty average for our school.

My school had 23 NMSFs out of a class of 104.

Last year we had 18 of 70 Semifinalists, 26 Commended.

my school is dumb - 4/712

we had 66% finalist rate and 80% commended:

454 seniors:
300- finalists
63- commended

Our school’s the reason VA’s cutoff is 220 unlike other soutern schools (< 210)

Usually 25 or so every year out of a class size of 400. Not a really big deal because so many get it…

I don’t know anyone else who got it in my school…

citybirds-
I assume you are messing with us. I find those figures very hard to believe.

Isn’t this years VA cutoff 217? MD is 221? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-act-tests-test-preparation/385453-official-national-merit-semifinalist-cutoff-scores-2007-a-13.html</a></p>

Class of 50:
1 NMSF
5 NMCS

I was the lowest PSAT score, at 4 points over the Commended cut-off. I’m also the lowest SAT score, at 2190.

No one at my school got NMSF.

This year though I’m probably going to be the first in about 10 years to get it.

well if citybird is talking about TJ I can believe those numbers.

NJlax-
Finalist determination isnt even out yet for this year. I believe people are posting info about this year’s NM, not last year’s.

we had 66% finalist rate and 80% commended:

454 seniors:

no jym626 i am not kidding… and this is LASt years (when the cutoff was 220)

my point exactly-- people are posting stats from THIS year, not last year.

Here’s the link to last year’s scores http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/2993607-post662.html</a></p>

exactly which southern states besides Mississippi-- that poor state, and LA, many of whose students were displaced) got scores below 210??? All I am saying is that the figures presented should be fair and, hopefully, accurate

BTW: it was a joke

TJ only lists 167 for 2006
