Most cops don't even care if you smoke if you are under 18. The most they ever do is just take it away.

yes I know you said buy. I was stating that it is ok for him to be posting here because its legal for high schoolers to smoke tobacco. Maybe if you read what I wrote you could respond with a legitimate argument.

Vicious, They don't care because it's legal

iloveagoodbrew, this is the High School Forum, not the "Social Reject's attempt to Corrupt the Masses" Forum.

By the way, I never drink. Your stereotypes are most likely based off of your own personal expirience and your friends. It is pretty arrogant that you generalize an entire generation based of you and your stoner buddies.

It's not illegal. A minor could grow his/her own tobacco and process it for cigars legally.

I guess I am afriad too. I don't want your studidity and poor decsion making to rub off on me.

nice. generic insults are always the way to go when you've run out of a good argument.

Haha, whatever kid. Give yourself a pat on the back for being such a ferocious internet warrior.

I'm on no one's side here (I just read the thread and thought it was hilarious how seriously everyone took everyone else), but I've seen this phrase thrown around a lot lately and I just want to say: I hate when people criticize others for "blindly following the laws." It basically says "hey look how cool I am; I'm so intelligent that I'm capable of criticizing authority because I'm clearly the only person in the world who realizes that laws are arbitrary, even though arbitrariness is a quality of the legal system by definition!"

Obviously, everyone who respects our legal system does so because he or she is a brainwashed sheep, not because of the possible repercussions or even the practicality of the laws in the first place!

Generic comebacks to generic insults in an even better way to win. Just becasuse you are one of those "cool kids" who smoke, it does not mean that flaunting it makes your decisions any better. You are supporting something that kills almost a half a million people in a year...in only the Americas!

^No it doesn't. You have any proof of that? :) Not half a million...

Oh I'm sorry, but most of us have outgrown the "rebel" phase after turning 14. Some of us don't feel a need to measure of to some degree of badassness.

iloveagoodbrewbecauseithinkiamcool, aw, you take defeat too easily!

I know, this is what he sounds like to me: " Oh man, the government sucks, and I will do anything I want, because no one will tell me what to do. I will smoke and drink because my mommy did not give me enough attention as a child. Then, I will brag about it to a bunch of dedicated and motivated high school students to make me feel mature and badass. Look at me! I am cool!"

Wow.........

Well its a shame most people will blindly obey. Look at America now, we are being wire tapped, our laptops are being taken away at airports, and the government is covering up every single little thing right in front of our noses. The point of democracy is for the citizens to always criticize and be cautious of government not to take their orders.

"Clearly, everyone who respects our legal system does so because they are brainwashed sheep, not because of the possible repercussions or even the practicality of the laws in the first place!"

Of course laws are put in place for a reason. However, many laws are completely money driven and are not really a necessity. Take the outlawing of the growth of hemp. For those who don't know, hemp is NOT psychoactive and just happens to come from the same plant of marijuana(it is the male plant).

Why can't you grow hemp? Because the virgin-tree paper industry! Hemp is an amazing producer of paper and doesn't degrade the soil. However, lobbyists have been able to keep it illegal to grow because it is closely related to the evil marijuana. Hemp can also make items such as backpacks and clothes.

So go ahead, follow the law. Contribute to global warming, desertification, and the forrests being cut down because the law says hemp is bad. And damnit, if George Bush says so, I agree.

If this thread is any indication of how tobacco affects brain power, I am never, ever going to smoke.

Iloveagoodbrew, is the CDC a good enough source for you?

Cigarette Smoking-Related Mortality | OSH | CDC

Oh, wait, did you need me to explain to you that 400,000 is almost half a million? Is that it?

How many people die because of smoking each year?

This also helps.

Rmadden, I think that title might be a little confusing for our dear friends.
