....so if you have been slaving over your comon app and print previewing the resulting pdf
you have probably realized that at a minimum the Common App will be 5 pages long
....then if you write a 2-page essay and upload it is going to be 7-pages long...then you
upload an additional info section with information ....probabaly 1-5 pages of it nicely formatted.....

...in the end your 'common' app will be anywhere from:

5 pages to 12 pages .....

HOW MANY PAGES IS YOUR COMMON APP GOING TO BE.....

closer to 5 or closer to 12....?

[keeping in mind you cannot change the common part once it is submitted
once for subsequent colleges you will have to deal with potential holes
in college supplements that you will be applying to RD rather than EA]

Nah... change that. My essay's less than a page single spaced.
(Question- do you upload your essay single or double spaced???)
Then a page and a half (or so) resume.
Not sure where I got 10 from...

Yes I do.
I was counting the uploading of the question "have you ever transferred schools in the middle of a school year" question, but that's not common app- that's the supplement.

Adcoms say if your accomplishments are genuine, they should speak for themselves (aka, one-two lines).

Too much makes you look like you're trying to hide something (get what I'm trying to say? It's hard for me to describe).

Plus, remember that some poor soul has to read over hundreds/thousands of these and extra pages are not going to be looked on happily.

Only let it be if you must (like for me, I had to include test results for a foreign exam, a foreign transcript, and explain what they said...11 pages total).

And plenty of adcoms also say to attach resumes. It's not like I'm going in depth here; just listing and letting it go. The common app is terribly set up for EC's.

Books on the subject say that double space is preffered by Ad coms
and also 12 size font...... (...has to do with readability and the adcom not
wating to get reminded they are getting old) :D

phonyreal98: you should view the output pdf on your screen since the
common app comes out looking differently and truncates entries sometimes
....just to make sure the adcom will see what youa re seeing.....? I do not
think there will be too many paper submissions from CC applicants unless they
are athletes requested by their coaches or something.... but as
Johnson181 points out the adcoms will view your app on paper

<possible inventory="" of="" additional="" info="" items="" ...="">----> ~9-10 pages
....a table for summer activities .....a table (but more detailed) for
explaining your school year EC's (in and out of school), a page for awards honors
and distinctions (unless you can claim to be on the olympic team
- athletic or academic (IMO/USAPHO/USABO))......your AP grades (some
college supplements do not have a space for this...)....your grade 12 courses
...(the adcoms could get this from the current transcript but hey you are on
a roll)......
..............+ a 2 page essay
If you have done extensive co-curricular academics like John-Hopkins/Stanford's EPGY ..... + 1 page</possible>
