How many pairs of clothing do you bring for the first year?

For freshman, I know some people bring like 5 pairs of clothes and buy the rest there, around their college place. All you college students, how many did you bring?

depends on how you're getting to school, season changes...if you like the clothes you have...lots of things

i pretty much took everything i thought i might wear. i was driving up to school with my dad in a seperate SUV, so space wasn't an issue. i also didn't really feel like having to build a new wardrobe at school and still have clothes at home

bumppers.........

I basically just brought most of my clothes from home, that fit the season. Like, here it's very hot when fall semester starts and stays warm until late October so I mostly brought t-shirts, tank tops, and shorts, and jeans for cooler days. When it starts getting colder, I usually buy some new long sleeve shirts but also I brought some from home and took some tank tops and summery things home. I never had a problem fitting most of my clothes in my closet and dresser in the dorm.

bumpers......

I brought everything I normally wear... I didn't go on a shopping spree when I got there or anything.

i am a huge fashion freak, so i brought everything... honestly, i haven't worn 2/3 of what i brought, but i still like having it in my closet just because it makes me feel safe (i love seeing all my shoes laid out for me when i walk into my closet)

you'll need a lot of sweatpants, sweatshirts, those comfy gym shorts, just really comfortable clothes because you'll be living in them. also, if you plan to go out a lot, get a wide assortment of tops to go out in... i realize i need a different top every time we go out/take pictures...

My first piece of advice, and probably the best I can give you, is: only take what you are actually going to wear. Nothing sucks more than having to lug around huge suitcases filled with crap you're never even going to touch during school. Also, leave behind some decent clothes, so that when you go back for break you don´t have to take all of your clothes from school back home.

I took:
6 jeans
2 pants
about 15 t shirts
5 polo shirts
5 button up shirts
6 pairs of shoes
like 5 sweaters
gym clothes
PJs
one suit
and I bought all of my winter clothes once november/december started moving in

(I actually do wear all of this).

Thanks so much...

twinkeltoes23...where do you go to school? what college?

I'd say bring enough to only need to do laundry every 2 weeks. Classic mistake is to not bring enough socks or underwear. You can easily repeat jeans and shirts within reason.
