how many people accepted will be attending?

i'm still waiting on other college decisions.
however, i'd still like to get to know you!

so
post whether or not you're going
and whatever else you'd like us to know

also:
is anyone visiting UGA after winter break?
i've never been before
what's athens like?

i feel kinda like a nerd right now.

UGA was the only place I applied and thus thats what I'll be attending.

Fromdistantstar - I probably will attend UGA and definitely will if I get into the honors program. Like you, im waiting on other schools.

Athens is a good college town. Its kind of in the middle of nowhere(about a 2.5 hour drive from atlanta). Most people love the campus and often comment how beautiful it is. Of course it can be a party town and a football town obviously, but there are plenty of different kinds of people at UGA and I think almost anyone can find their proper niche. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask or PM me. Vig would probably be a much better help than I am on the campus life.

i will either go to UGA or UNC

If Wild Child doesn't get into his ED school (he is a recruit), Georgia moves quite high on the list. He will visit after winter break. I thought Athens was only an hour from Atlanta. Is there a bus or something from Atlanta?

mom of wild child, you are correct - I was thinking of my house with traffic, haha. According to my sister who attends UGA to downtown atlanta its about 1.5 hours not 2.5.

mom of wild child: if there is a bus i dont think it would be very convienent to the school. I attended there along time ago and there was not a bus station anywhere near campus but of course that might not be true now.

I am most likely going to UGA, I applied to tech but i dont think i really want to go there.. and anything out of state is not worth the extra money.

There is a shuttle to and from the Atlanta airport that begins its route right on campus, but is very pricey and crowded. I recommend making friends with one of the many, many people from Atlanta or the suburbs.

Also, Athens is probably the best college town in the country. I'll get back with more later, but I'm in the middle of a ten page paper and have an exam at 8 AM tomorrow, so I'm just a little busy at the moment.

I'm just thinking about if my son goes to visit. If he flies to Atlanta, then what? He isn't old enough to rent a car, so he would have to take the bus.

Yeah, he'd probably have to take the shuttle then. Unless, that is, you found a flight into the Athens airport, but I think only US Air does that and it's kinda expensive. Being far away from the airport can be kinda frustrating, but it's a lot better than dealing with Atlanta area traffic 24/7.

I'm going! It's my first choice. I really hope that I get the foundation fellowship, but even without it, I'd definitely still go there.
I visited, and Athens is pretty much the perfect college town. I can't think of any reason why someone wouldn't like it. Cute shops, diverse food, great nightlife, and all within walking distance from the dorms.
(by the way, if any girl needs a roommate i need one. i'm a good one i promise.)
and fromdistancestar, i always feel like a nerd when i'm on here.

"i always feel like a nerd when i'm on here."

Same here. I'm probably attending UGA, too, since thats the only place I've applied to so far :). I might just apply out-of-state just to see if I can get in or w/e but I don't really want to go out of state. And now rejection from other places won't matter because I already got in to UGA, so that's good. I'm going to visit the campus after Christmas I think although my sister went there for a year (transferred out) and told me it's really nice. Plus, I hear they have one of the best gyms/sports clubs around. That'll keep me occupied while I avoid studying all year :p.
