I am one of applicants who applied to EECS major.

Do you guys finish all core courses for berkeley?

I am one of applicants who applied to EECS major.

Do you guys finish all core courses for berkeley?

i guess they only require us to finish

the CS61 series, discrete math and engineering courses are recommended.

btw,
my school doesnt hv any courses articulated to berkeley’s engineering and CS courses, but i got 61A and 61B from another 2 colleges, and discrete math from my college. So i hvnt taken any engineering courses yet. Do you guys think it would be a disadvantage?? How about you?? Do you have any articulated CS61ABC/engineering courses?

I had no courses that articulated but the core courses and CS61B; however, I did take classes of the same subject as the major requirements (discrete math, statistics, 4 additional programming classes, etc.). If you go to school that doesn’t have articulation agreements for particular classes, they don’t hold it against you in the admission process. Even though I’ve been told this several times, it still worries me. I’ve even talked to another EECS transfer that said he was missing everything but the core and was admitted – and I’m still paranoid.

What are your guys’ stats?

Mine:
4.0
8/10 essays
All of the core done and 61B
A few ECs
Working 20 hours a week
1st gen
100 units or so

props and goodluck to u guys…CAL EEC is such a hard major to get into…but its an excellent program there

3.9
TAP
essays i guess it would be 10/10 since it has been revised by the TAP coordinator
activity: only an engineering club… , 3-4 awards, math tutor
around 70 units

my fd in last year also got into EECS without having any recommended courses. He only took the object-oriented c++ courses in my college. no data structure, no engineering class. GPA around 3.7. But his offer got deferred to spring.

^ so hv u taken any engineering courses? such as circuit

^ No I haven’t taken circuits; it’s the one weakness I see in my app. But I’m intending to specialize in CSE (which I made clear in my app), so I hope it doesn’t work against me too much.

Your friend getting in makes me calm. You’re lucky you have TAP; it’s a for sure thing for you, it looks like.

I didn’t even finish core courses yet. I am still have one course in progress and going to

finish in this spring semester. My school does not have recommend courses except

comsc 61B as you guys said.

I am so nervous right now because I am not as competitive as someone who already

finished core courses before spring term. My gpa is 3.95 with around 80 units and none of

ECS.

it makes a difference if core courses are not done b4 spring?
cuz im taking my linear algebra rite now…im a 2-yr transfer…how abt u guys??

I’m a 3-year. And I’ll finish the core prereqs this spring too. I haven’t heard that not completing them before spring hurts your chances.

I am 3 years transfer.

So If we can finish core courses until this spring, we don’t need to worry about them.

I think there are not many EECS major in this forum. Thanks for sharing you guy’s opinions with me.

^ if it implies there are not many top EECS transfers… that would be awesome…
cant wait til the 30th…

^I mean Many EECS applicants do not participate to share their spec in this forum even

though lots of people applied to EECS.

^mrkenx_x said only ~400 applied in 2009, so there aren’t that many.

.81
i took whatever i could from my cc… so whatever was articulated on assist im done/in progress…
i doubt i get in but it would be nice to try than to go for some other engineering that im not inteterested :)

Wow, a lot of us have surprisingly similar stats. ECs and essays are going to affect decisions a lot.

I hope we all get admissions to EECS. Good luck guys.

BUMPy face of a pubescent teenage boy.

I want to keep this on the front page to tempt any frequent lurkers or catch the infrequent ones. Stop perpetuating the stereotypes, intended EECS majors!

BUMPing in a g-string is what sumo wrestlers do.

There has to one more of you out there.

cheating, im bumping the “anthro” thread.

I would say we should compete for replies, but this thread is more specific – and higher quality. :p
