<p>They only told me that they have a "decent" amount of people on the waitlist and that they are "over-enrolled"</p>
<p>same…but idc…good luck!</p>
<p>Decent probably means a LOT of people on the waitlist.
Generally, they send out a larger number of acceptances than they can actually ‘accept’, because there are going to be a number of applicants that are going to turn them down. This year, however, more people were matriculated (more people decided to go) than they expected. therefore, they ‘over-enrolled’.</p>
<p>A lot. They told me there were 20 girls waitlisted for 11th grade. That means ~40 girls and boys for 11th grade. The waitlist for 9th grade is bigger than 10th and 11th grades… So the total number would be 120-200.</p>
<p>but that’s stupid if they accept more than they can actually take! They should only accept the number of students they can and waitlist the rest.</p>
<p>Hotchkiss is still accepting applications for some forms. this may help. Admission decisions for timely applicants for Fall 2010 entry were released on March 10th. These essentially filled the School and allocated all financial aid monies, as well as established a fairly lengthy waitlist.
- Students who were offered a place on the waiting list should contact the office, preferably by telephone, to advise us if they wish to remain on the waitlist. They are also encouraged to submit any supplemental materials (updated report cards, additional recommendations, etc.) which they feel will enhance their file should the admission committee be able to reconsider it.
- While we traditionally are able to turn to the waitlist each year, the numbers are generally never large and we cannot predict for what grade or gender we will have openings. We replace any withdrawals that occur with a student of the same grade and gender and similar financial circumstances.
- The waitlist continues to remain open through the spring and into the summer. You will hear from us from time to time to assess your willingness to remain on the waitlist.
- We will continue to accept late applications for Fall 2010. Please know, however, that a successful late applicant will be placed on the waitlist along with those previously waitlisted, hoping that a withdrawal will create on opening.
- The wait list is not ranked. Should openings occur, the Admission Committee will reconsider all files from students of that grade/gender who have indicated that they wish to remain on the waitlist. Any offer of placement will be made by telephone.
- The Office of Admission will be offering tours and interviews from April 14th through May 25th, Mondays through Fridays only. Please contact the office by telephone to set up an on-campus appointment, or to schedule a telephone or Skype interview if you are not able to travel to Lakeville. If you wish to visit during the summer, we will be available from June 14th - August 19th from Monday through Thursday only.
- If you are interested in applying for entry in Fall 2011 or beyond and you have not yet registered with us, please be sure to complete and submit the online inquiry form which can be found at <a href=“http://www.hotckiss.org/admission/inquiryfor.asp[/url]”>http://www.hotckiss.org/admission/inquiryfor.asp</a>
- Application materials for Fall 2011 will be available in late August/early September</p>
