I asked when D auditioned in Feb…about 45 combined MT and Vocal Performance. Yikes!

I believe I heard they audition about 500 or so for the MT program each year. But don’t know a total for sure.
One nice thing about OCU is if you love the school you can audition for a number of different majors at the same time if you wish. Most people hope to get in the BM MT program. But they could be offered a spot in BM vocal performance, BFA acting, ba theatre and/or ba music if they don’t get in MT. And some like to double major in MT/VP. The big difference is which voice faculty you work with and the amount of dance you are allowed to take. MTs and VPs work with different voice faculty than other majors. each MT/VP is assigned to a voice studio before they arrive. And MTs and VPs have to take lots of theory, piano, aural skills and other music classes. Dancers and MTs get first dibs on dance classes. Everyone has to level and then find a spot open for them in the class they leveled into. You level for each type of dance so you will not necessarily be in the same level for ballet, tap, jazz, etc. MTs must have 12 credits in dance before graduating. I don’t believe dance classes are open to BA students. Not sure about acting and VP students. But the courses for each major are on the website.
One other thought: Dance majors do a separate audition but it is something to consider if you are a strong dancer, Dance performance majors are required to take some acting and voice as part of their curriculum. So you might get the training you want that way too. The dance school is also pretty competitive to get in but worth a look if you are a strong dancer. The dance school, like the MT program, has many alums working in shows on Broadway, as Rockettes and in other national and regional shows. We do know some really strong dancers not admitted to MT who went back for one of the late auditions for dance and were accepted to dance and are very happy in that major.
