I just had my graduation last night, and found out that every one from my school who applied to Penn got in. That is 5 people from a graduating class of 394. This is unheard of at my school, especially when Penn usually takes only 1 or 2, historically speaking. Has this happened anywhere else??

3 people got in from my graduating class ( total of around 90 people). Two fo them got into wharton and I got into CAS. One of them is accepting, the other is going to harvard instead ( I'm obviously accepting, yay!!). But it was a pretty good year for my school. Last year everyone who applie was faltout rejected. This year we got 3 admits and I believe another 3 waitlisted.

22 people from my school are going to Penn, which means a few more probably got in. Class size is ~290. Last year we had 15, I think. It's slightly ridiculous how many people are going. At every "meet new incoming freshmen" pre-party I've been to it has been like 60-70% kids from my school, making it totally pointless.

Where is your school (generally speaking)?

wow.. i go to a really prestigious school and usually 30 apply and 3 get in (though most haven't heard of upenn). usually 2 of the admitted 3 get in. this year 2 were admitted and both are going (including myself)

four people applied (from a NY specialized high school). One person got accepted ED, another got waitlisted, and two got flat out rejected.

California

And before you look up my area code, no, not Pasadena Poly.

I got into CAS and another into Wharton (recruited for football). Everyone else (6 that I'm aware of) was rejected. I go to your average, run of the mill public school with about 450 in my class.

3 people got in from my school (including me). I thought that was a lot considering I go to a public school in Kansas that has never sent anyone to an ivy before.

Sounds like Penn really has been doing some serious national recruiting.

I believe only 2 were accepted from my high school this year, me (CAS) and another guy (Wharton... He was recruited for football though.) Both attending.
My grade is about 370, with usually around 20-25 applying to Penn each year.

&In recent years:

2006: 2 accepted / 2 attended
2005: 2 accepted / 2 attended
2004: 2 accepted / 0 attended
2003: 2 accepted / 1 attended
2002: 3 accepted / 2 attended
2001: 3 accepted / 2 attended

Ha, I guess my HS is consistent... Penn doesn't like to accept more then 2 or 3 of us each year.

6 this year. 4 are going. The other two are going to Y and P. The girl going to P got some grants tho (compared to 0 at Penn) so I'm not too bitter.

My school sent 4/4 for the class of 2003, 4/5 from the class of 2004, 8/20 from the class of 2005 (my year) and i think 6/6 from the class of 2006. not sure about this year.

2, a rarity

many applied though, at least 20-30. it's funny that all of the 2350+ top10s got waitlisted/rejected. most applied to penn just for the helluvofit (you know, its an ivy, why not?). i don't think their "Why Penn" essays went beyond the information in the lovely laminated brochure they mail to everybody in the world (at least that seemed to be the case with a few of my friends who applied)

We're both going. And we're both 2300+, top 10s, to constrast abhim. Hah. I'm not sure how many applied...5+. People were just so secretive about it. We consistently send 2 a year. A girl I know actually asked the admissions office how many people they would accept in a year from my school and they said 3 tops. Not surprising considering I go to an good but not outstanding public school in NC.

Hey pommy- I was just wondering, besides poly and harvard-westlake, what are considered the best schools in your area?

Uhh I dunno. If you're talking about all the private schools around H-W.. Marlborough, Windward, Archer, Crossroads (though it's more of an artsy school) I guess... Brentwood too.

Beverly Hills is good but not private.

South Pas was a really good public school district about 10 yrs ago. It's been going downhill, though :(

But I dislike Poly :P

I was the first one in the 20+ years the current college/career advisor has been at my school to get in and was also the only one who applied. In the past few years about 20 have applied- last year 6 applied and none got in. Average lame public school.
I'm going to Chicago, though, so that ruins the advisor's plans for me :/

One from my graduating class got in (ED and connections to the board of trustees or something). Four others (including myself) applied RD and got rejected.

3 applied, 2 rejected, 1 waitlist.

boo.
