These are rough numbers of Class Size in recent years (note that they may accept more to yield the class size or create a wait list to pull from). I copied it from an old post and didn’t check accuracy…
Pace MT (BFA): 31
Rider MT (BFA): 49
Emerson MT: 14
Hartt MT: (BFA) 23
New York University: Tisch NSB - 61,
NYU Steinhardt: 24
@broadwaybabyyy - my D was accepted on March 28th in 2014. NYU always says “By April 1st” - and they sometimes release the Friday before. But this year April 1st IS a Friday- so who know what they will do. The point is- if you are looking for 2016 numbers for NYU- they don’t exist yet. If you are using numbers from previous year- maybe we should just use the thread that already exists
@broadwaybabyyy NYU does not follow a “Friday before” kind of pattern. I know in 2012 they came out on a Thursday and other years it has been something other than a Friday.
I’ve watched this now for 5 years. NYU’s pattern simply is to release the decisions when they are ready to be released - whenever that is on or before April 1st. Your best bet is to follow the admissions blog here: http://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions.html. Last year and the year before admissions rep Shawn Abbott gave a heads up on when they are coming out and what he said was actually what happened. I’d not be surprised if he or someone else in the admissions office does so again this year as we get closer to the end of this month.
Unless the process has changed, studio decisions will not be released until a couple of weeks afterwards. This means if you indicated on your application that you are open to placement in any of the Tisch studios including the MT studio (New Studio), you won’t know if you are in the MT studio for sure until you get your assignment a couple of weeks later. New Studio targets a class size of 64 maximum. That allows them to run 4 sections of 15-16 leveling classes like dance and music theory and distributing the group to keep class sizes small. That 61 was the actual number from 2012 but the number you really need for your list is “something around 60 - 64” because that will be the target. All the best!
That is the ever elusive number that one rarely knows. It also changes from year to year as schools make adjustments to secure the net number they are targeting.
