I'm going to be self-studying a few AP's. So I'm wonderign how many other people do this? Is it just the typical College Confidential kid, or do lots of kids do it?

It's the typical CC kid -- the majority of AP test-takers don't bother.

yeah i must say...when i heard about all the people self-studing AP's on this forum, I felt really dumb. But, then I realized that it's simply not necessary

Yeah, I think it's mostly CC people. I don't hear of many people self-studying AP's outside this forum.

people in my school do it sometimes... I did :D

one kid in advanced (like the normal advanced not the genius advanced) self-studied BC Calc and took the exam

I've never heard of self-studying AP's before I came onto CC. Now I'm guilty of being a super-academic-overachieving-nerd too :'(

Only 1 other kid in my class of 450 is self-studying AP's, and he's going to be val. and has had scientific research published and everything...ugh

I had a friend who graduated 2 years before me that self studied the majority of the aps he took, and two years before him a girl at my school got ap scholar with 16 aps, needless to say she self-studied like 10 of those. Though, I'm pretty sure he used CC. My school offers really few aps, and they rotate from year to year, which suxs, so most high-achievers self study, and the majority are not on CC (except me, hihihihi).

-most people don't take APs in general at high school

-most people don't take AP tests in high school

-therefore most people don't self-study APs in high school

After golf season's over, I'm going to try to self-studying either art history, or human geography. Possibly English Language also because I'm in Honors English right now. We'll see.

Before I came on CC I never even thought people were allowed to self study APs.

This year I'll be self studying 5 lol (stupid CC influencing me =[ lol jk)

CC kids made me self-study 3 and I go to a school where juniors typically take only 2 AP classes (which they'll fail). I personally want 5's. Ambitious, no?

I self studied two as a Junior last year, got 2 4s

im teaching myself calculus mainly cuz im bored at school....if u set ur mind to it anything is achieveable...im no freak at taking tests but i am insane at learning at a fast pace...learned 2 years of physics in 2 months self studied...goes to show some sort of discipline is needed....im just an ordinary kid though...self studying and self teaching 4 ap courses just using a prep book :P lol funny aint it...might buy a textbook though

I'm self-studying 2 this year, but mainly cause there aren't enough class periods in one day for me to be able to take all the classes I want. X'D

Though AP Chinese is just for fun. [is native] :]

I never even thought about self-studying APs until I came across CC; this will be the first year that I self-study APs. It's kind of late for me too because I'm a senior. The overachievers on this board make me feel like I'm behind. :P

For AP state scholar, is the male or female threshold higher?

No one else at my school has self-studied. Now my teachers think I'm ambitious or something. Then they wonder where I'm at 4 days a week.
