How many people usually drop at the beginning of the semester?

I'm a local community college student hoping to transfer to a UC and I've already finished my major pre-reqs, all but one GE, and my lower div unit requirement, so I was hoping to get a head start on my upper div work by taking a class at UCB through concurrent enrollment.

The class I'm interested in has 1 available seat and 2 people on the waitlist. According to the extension website, if there are any people on the waitlist the class is considered full (for me) and I am not allowed to apply for it. But I have a whole month after class starts to submit the application.

So, do you think that in a month (though preferably sooner than that, hopefully the first week), either two people will drop the class or the two people on the waitlist will remove themselves from it? At community college, usually 1/4-1/3 drops within the first month but I'm assuming it's much different at UC.

This isn't a major requirement, or a popular class, it was actually less than half full up until the last couple weeks. I'm assuming that means that people don't really care about it...so hopefully they are more likely to drop?

Give it no more than a week. Unless the class is THAT good and EVERY one in the class are that desperate to keep the class, there will be people dropping no matter how popular it is.

It isn’t up to 1/4-1/3 of the people dropping the class, but I’d say at least 1/10 if the class is sufficiently large.
