How many periods and how long are they?

How many periods does your school have and how long are they? Also how long are the passing periods? My school only has six periods and I think that is a disadvantage because I can take less classes(core classes, PE, and foreign language is all there is time for. No time for extra electives). They are each 52 minutes and there is a 30 minute SSR. 7 minute passing periods. School is from 7:30 to 2:30. Exactly 7 hours. How about yours?

They have block scheduling, so there are four periods in a day and you switch classes at the beginning of the second semester. So you can take eight classes every year.

6 periods (we call them hours), 1 hour each. School starts at 8am and ends at 2:55. Lunch is 30 minutes. 5 minute passing time between classes. Some people take a 0 hour, I did this year.

I seriously misinterpreted the title, lol. :P

My school has 7 periods. School is from 7:20 to 2:10, so a lil less than 7 hours. Each class is 45 minutes long, and I believe we have like 4 minutes between each class. We have a one hour lunch, but on some days our lunch is cut in half and we have a mandatory study hall.

Wednesdays and Thursdays are the only block days out of the week. So on Wednesday I have: 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th. Thursday I have: 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th. On block days every class is 1.5 hours (except for 1st period since it meets on both block days). Every other day except for those two I have all my classes.

I would honestly prefer if we would just run on a full block schedule, cause then I’d have 8 classes. All splitting it does is prevent us from getting use to 1.5 hour long classes, making us fatigued by the end of the day.

^Ha, you’re not the only one who did that, Cornball.

Anyway, we have a rotating block schedule. We have 7 classes in total, and go to 6 per day. The period that was dropped one day becomes first period the next day, and all subsequent classes move one period later each day. On days where we have state testing, the first period class will last two periods, and whatever class is supposed to be second will be dropped during that time slot.

7:30-8:25: First period class
8:30-9:20: Second period
9:25-10:15: Third period
10:20-11:10: Fourth period
11:15-1:15: Fifth period; lunch (A lunch is 11:35-12:05; B lunch is 12:10-12:40; C lunch is 12:45-1:15)
1:20-2:15: Sixth period

Next year we’re adding an 8th period, so I have no idea what the new schedule will look like.

We have 6 classes per day, but period 4 is on a rotating schedule between two class, so we have 7 classes total. 1, 2 3 5 6 are 50 minutes each. Period 4 is two hours but each class has a 30 minute lunch. The lunches are in 4 shifts during period 4.

School start: 8:26, end: 3:02
7 classes- about 50 minutes each?
Extra 8th period for helping those who are below a C in a class
20 minute lunch “hour”
About 3 minutes in between classes

Some of you guys only have 3 minute passing periods. How does that work? In middle school, my passing period was that long and it worked fine because the school wasn’t that big. But what about in high school? I have the type of school that is completely outdoors, like a college. No hallways. Maybe that’s why.

We have 4 classes per day (each class meets every other day, so we have 8 classes total), plus a daily seminar period.

First Block: 7:51 - 9:15 (84 min)
Second Block: 9:20 - 10:44 (84 min)
Third Block: 10:49 - 12:39 (84 min class time, 26 min lunch time)
Fourth Block: 12:44 - 2:08 (84 min)
Seminar: 2:13 - 2:55 (42 min)

Passing periods are 5 minutes and the school day is 7 hours and 4 minutes. Second-semester seniors are allowed to drop any class that isn’t required for graduation, so I dropped seminar and get to leave at 2:08 everyday. A lot of seniors have nothing but English and Math though.

We have school from 7:30-2:30 & 6 45 minute periods everyday. We have a 7 minute passing period & a 20 minute ssr period Mondays-Wednesdays. Every Friday we have late start, so we start school at 8:30& each period is shortened

Wow, camilouisee. Almost exactly like mine, except I have 30 min ssr mon-fri and late starts on Monday.

4 classes per day (3 are 1.5 hr and one is 45 min) plus a 20 minute advisory between 1st and 3rd period. The 1.5 hr classes run on a Day 1/Day 2 schedule and the 45 minute period is always last and meets every day. 6-7 minute passing time

4 periods that are 80 minutes with the 80 hour lunch and 90 without on days that we need to “adjust” to our new schedules

@loltired, I wish I had that long of a lunch period… Haha 80 hours. Cool :slight_smile:

Sorry, I just thought it was a funny mistake.

I like this schedule:
1 ~ 90 minutes
2 ~ 90 minutes
3 ~ 45 minutes
4 ~ 45 minutes
5 ~ 45 minutes
6 ~ 90 minutes

6 minute passing periods

1 of the 45 minute periods is your lunch.
2 45 minute periods can be combined into one class, or they can be separate 45 minute smaller classes.

Switch off schedules every “quarter”
So that means you can have up to 10 (11 with the new physics) AP classes in one year! :)

We do it by modules which are units of 20 minutes. A class consists of 2 modules. You have the option of taking a 7:10 woodshop or gym as well. A science class will consist of 3 modules twice a week or always consist of three modules if it’s an AP.

Mod 0: Reserved for science classes
Mod 1-2: Period 1
Mod 3-4: Period 2
Mod 5-6: Period 3
Mod 7-8: Period 4
Mod 9-10: Period 5
Mod 11-12: Period 6
Mod 13-14: Period 7
Mod 15-16: Period 8
Mod 17: Science class labs

Lunch mods are from 7-12. School begins at 8:15 and ends at 2:41, unless you have a mod 0 or 17 lab or if you take a 7:10 class.

My school has nine periods a day and they are each 40 minutes long and we change from one half year elective to the next in the second semester.

You guys have some confusing schedules.

8 periods per day, 45 min each. We start at 7:55 and finish at 3:30. Long, long days :(

0: 55 minutes
1: 55 minutes
2: 60 minutes
3: 55 minutes
4: 55 minutes
Lunch (36 minutes)
5: 55 minutes
6. 55 minutes
7: 55 minutes
