....i really dont like this point system... i really dont think it works like that...and you never know what the admission ppl are thinking... i say just do your best on your applications...

Uh.. it does for UCSD and UC Davis, for sure. I know it doesn't for UCLA and UCB, but it's been established that it does work like that for UCSD.

UCSD has a computer calculate the points from your app, 2 reviewers skim over it to make sure you didnt cheat or anything (like put 10 hours a week, 52 weeks a year, 4 years community service with NO description)

then readers skim your essays looking for factual information that can be used for points such as leadership roles, personal hardships, awards, etc... so remember all the grammar you were so worried about? yea. it doesnt matter!!!

Wrong. Admission does not necessary get harder each year.

Fall 2005 cutoff point is higher than that of Fall 2006. In fact, the percentage of admitted students jumped from 39% to 46%.

Cutoff points are also not released until after admissions come out. The only way people found out was through calling the admissions people. You can ask them how many points you were below the cutoff. If you were only a few points off from the cutoff, then it's a good idea to appeal. If not, then oh well, go to a community college and come back in two years.

they just skim through yoru essays? wow.. that really sucks... this point system seems to be mainly for people with amazing gpa and sat scores...
