hey everyone! I took the sat for the first time and i got a 1330. Is that a bad score? idk i am really confused and my main goal is to either go in LIU Brooklyn campus or hunter college in the future but my sat score is not enough. i studied alot last time too for like two months and i still got a 1330. My goal is atleast a 2000 but is it possible if i study for three months only? the vocabulary is the hardest for me and the reading too since i got a 380 on that. In math i got a 530 and in writing i got a 420! i really need a good advice cause hunter is really hard to get in and i want to go in it!

Ok, so it’s likely your score will increase, but a 670 point increase will be tough/unlikely. For your writing work on your essay the essay is 30% of your overall raw score. If you get a 8-12 on the essay it should give you some lead way on that section skip the ones your positive you don’t know. Math section is on target practice with the Princeton Review book it’s the best in my opinion. Critical Reading is all practice, try your hardest to take as many practice tests as possible! Overall good luck you should definitely be able to increase your score into the 1500-1700 range on your second attempt!

Best advice I can give is to take multiple practice tests in the Blue Book from the college board. You will be able to see where you need improvement. However, please do not waste your time trying to study mass amounts of vocab if you need to focus on other things. Your score will go up much more if you focus on the passages rather than vocab as focusing on vocab may help you to get 4-5 extra correct.

By all means if you have the time focus on passages and vocab, but, like I said, your time would be better allocated to doing practice tests.

So i retook the test at home and i got a 1450. On my first actual SAT i got a 1330? Will i go up to 2000 points if i study for 3 months during the summer and the beginning of senior yr?

Try the ACT. Some kids find one test easier than the other. The experience with my kids is that the ACT is easier to study for. The material tends to be more familiar but the time constraints are tough, in my view. Take a practice exam with a real test atmosphere and timing to see where you are. Good luck!

I’m trying to also get to 2k. I took the SAT for the first time in june and my score is the same as yours. Hopefully lots of studying during summer will help raise that score
