I’m starting to think about which teachers to ask for recommendations, but I keep running into an issue: how many recommendations is too many? How many recommendations is it appropriate to ask of one teacher? I need recommendations for 8-9 schools, but I’m concerned that that’s a lot to ask.
You can reuse the same recommendation for all colleges you’re applying to if you use the Common App.
But how many of them are unique recommendations, as opposed to the same one sent to many schools?
@ucbalumnus Of the schools I need recs for, two use applications that aren’t common app.
They will still use the same letter. Just give them a stamped addressed envelope if it has to be snail mail. Otherwise they send electronically and should be no big deal, just be organized with what you give them. that is not an excessive amount of schools.
In my school, ONE letter per student is submitted to Naviance, and a hard copy of that same letter is submitted to the College Placement Office. I fill out the Common App survey on Naviance, and I’m done.
