On Yale's website, it says that they require 2 Sat II subject test. So my question is, is it better to be safe and take an extra test to make it 3? Also, are there any recommended Sat II tests that should be taken, or do they place equal weight on all of the tests?

If you’re confident that you’ll do really well (like 750+) on two, then only take two… but some schools (I’m not sure if this is Yale’s policy or not) will only take your highest two SAT II scores - so even if you take three, they’ll only consider the two with your highest scores.

And make sure you take the two (or three) in different subjects. In other words, don’t take Math I and Math II - you want to show that you have strengths in more than one area.

Schools will consider ALL of your subject tests if you score highly on all of them. There is only room on Columbia’s application for 2 scores, yet they specifically require 4 from home schooled kids, so I know they saw all four of mine.

Take as many as you will get high scores on.
