How many SAT II's did you take?

Hey guys~

I know MIT only requires 2 SAT 2's... and I only took two. But do you guys think that most MIT applicants (especially the early die hard MIT'ers) took more than 2 and does this put the applicants who took less at any disadvantage (or in other words, is there an advantage to more than 2 or do they simply take ur best ones?).

I took chem and math2c (in the sciences), 780,800 respectively and took ACT's as well (35). Thanks!

All MIT requires is a math and a science SAT II Subject Test. You won't be at a disadvantage if you didn't take more than that (especially since you did well on the two you did take).

Besides... since you've already applied, what could you do about it now? Worry isn't healthy.

LOL. I agree with mootmom, my son took the SAT2 math level 1 way back when which I thought was silly, but his school recommended it. Last June he sat for three more since I think at least one college he applied to wanted 3 and two maths were hardly going to count. He took Math2c, Physics and USHistory (which required no studying since he had just taken the AP and was still reviewing in class for the NY Regents test.)

When MIT required a third SAT II, the Admissions folks regularly reassured applicants that it was perfectly FINE to have the third one be the second math. But "no worries" on that account now. ;)

Back last year, I took Math 2c, physics, biology, and chemistry.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with not submitting a "humanities" score, either.

Would you guys suggest taking Math IIc and\or Bio. in Grade 9? Meaning, is there any weight relative to age?

If you're in grade 9 I would suggest going out and getting some ice cream this saturday. There's no benefit to taking the SAT's early, and no penalty for taking them late up to the actual admissions deadline. Enjoy yourself while you can, my young friend. :)

If you finished precalc then take math 2 immediately!

Yea, I agree with most of the people on this post. There is no disadvantage for not taking more than the required amount (esp. since you did so well). I had taken 3 when I applied, back when you had to take 3. Now that there is basically the writing SAT II on the SAT I, 2 now is like three then.

Should I wait until the end of the year because I'll have more math (PreC, BCC) finished? Right now I have Kaplan's SAT IIC, and I feel that I can do well* on it.

*My definition of well is skewed. :p

I took 3 test, because other school required 3 test, and it was only an extra hour. Physics, Math II and US History. I did better on History than Physics, whatever.

Chaos, if you take AP Bio take the bio test in May or June of that year. It doesn't matter when you take math II, I took it after a year of calculus and did fine. If you are going to take it after pre-calc, make sure you're pre-calc course was comprehensive. My school never taught any conics, which always appear for a few questions.

Make sure you know trig identities too!

Look at a review book for Math 2c and sign up to take in May or June of the year you finish covering the material. Whatever your school calls that course! For your science SAT2 I'd recommend taking it May of the year you take an AP Science - assuming you take one sophomore or junior year.
