I hear from some sources that it is two, I hear from others that it is three. How many SAT II’s are needed to get apply to Brown?

"We require the following test results for a complete application to Brown:

SAT Reasoning Test and any two SAT Subject Tests

Or

ACT (with writing component). The ACT can be used as a substitute for both the SAT Reasoning and Subject Tests." - from the Brown undergrad website

The only college that I applied to that required 3 was Harvard.

i think the reason you find some places saying they require 3 is that they used to require 3 before the writing section was added to the SAT reasoning test. Now, they only need 2 and supposedly consider the writing section the third subject test.

Id advise you to do 3 anyway. Since you can do 3 in one sitting and you already bothered to get up and go to the test zone. Be aware however that your 3rd subject test should be the one you care least about, since your scores fall a bit as you go through the subject tests.

Take 3 since you can do 3 in one sitting, but do not submit any until you see your scores. Then, you can submit only your 2 best ones, unless of course, you are applying to Harvard which requires 3.

It looks as though Harvard does not require 3. This is from Harvard’s application site:

Brown also requires two (from Brown’s site):

No offense, but I think taking a third SAT Subject Test just because you’re already there is a horrible reason. It’s not like there’s few opportunities to take the tests. Take the test when you’re ready for it (June tests after taking the AP class seemed to work well for me).
As for Harvard, I could’ve sworn that they required 3 for this year. Maybe they changed it for next year? Or maybe I’m just going crazy?

Yes, Harvard changed the requirement from 3 to 2.
