How many SAT Subject Tests should I take?

I’ve seen some posts about how having both STEM and Humanities subject tests will look better to colleges, is this true? So far I have taken Chemistry (750) and Math 2 (800). Should I also take a humanities one? (I would either take US History or Literature, not sure)

I know that Georgetown requires 3 subject tests, but I am not interested in applying there so I’m technically okay with only 2, but I was just wondering how much my chances to top schools would increase if I took a third.

Also, I want to go into science and I know that top schools like to see 750+ scores; since my chem score is right on the border should I retake it or is it good?

Thanks!

I forgot to mention - I’ll be taking both AP Lang and APUSH at the end of my junior year (and hopefully getting a 5 on both). Would that make an extra humanities SAT more unnecessary, or do colleges treat AP exams and SAT IIs totally differently?

Your chances of admission don’t go up if you take more than 2 subject tests. Take 3 at most. You’ve demonstrated the subjects you at e most passionate in and are related to your major. I wouldn’t say you need a third, but it would not hurt either. Teither Lit or US history only if you have a lot of time on your hands to study. In other words, don’t stress over it.
