How many SAT2s are enough for Ivies?

just wondering how many sat2s are enough for most top schools...
my sat prep school told me to take 6 sat2s..is it insane?
but if u take more, does it look good?

"Enough" for Ivies? Zero

"Enough" to get into Ivies? Zero

Three is a reasonable number.

I would like an answer to a similar question:

Regarding HYPMS, is it helpful to have.. let's say.. 5-6 high SAT ii scores rather than 2-3 high SAT ii scores? I know these schools are not supposed to consider more than your top few scores, but what if all of your scores are approximately the same? Do they all get seen, and do they all get considered?

I was wondering the same thing. Don't they have to look at all the scores to determine your best ones, and thus will be either positively or negatively influenced anyway by the scores they're technically not supposed to consider? Or does someone else filter out the worst scores so they can only see the best ones?

no matter what, the schools look at top 2 scores..except harvard which i think looks at three.

Bump... ....

I know that this is a question that has probably been asked a bunch of times...but I never get an answer that suits me from my guidance counselor. With your SAT scores, GPA, recommendations, EC's and your essays, how much is getting 600's on your SAT II's really going to hurt you? If everything else is pretty good, will the II's be the determining factor for a rejection letter? People spend SO much time studying for the SAT's and making their GPA the best it can be and committing themselves to EC's and writing the essays, so are the II's going to kill a perfectly capable applicant?

Note that for some students, particularly engineering, particular subjects tests (usually math and either physics or chemistry) are required.

Princeton and Harvard require 3 subject tests, I think everyone else requires 2 or less.

It depends on the colleges you are applying for. Stanford requires 2 and wants you to take Math Level II if you are planning on majoring in science fields. Johns Hopkins wants you to take either SAT II Physics or Chemistry if you are planning on majoring in science fields.

Princeton actually doesn't require any Subject Tests in some cases. In lieu of the SAT II an applicant can submit their ACT. Source: IvyWest
