How many schools are you applying to?

<p>Isn’t it ironic that the conventional wisdom for maximizing financial aid requires applying to more schools and thus paying more fees?</p>

<p>Isn’t it ironic that the conventional wisdom for dealing with the low admit rates at highly selctive colleges requires applying to more schools and thus reducing the admit rate?</p>

<p>I agree with the reality of conventional wisdom in both cases, but there must be some way to stop the madness. Unfortunately, colleges have an incentive to keep students applying to more schools (more application fees) and students don’t seem to have any power.</p>
