How many students have applied by the scholarship deadline in previous years? What is the anticipated number this year?

Last year, USC said that over 20,000 applications were submitted by the scholarship deadline, and then another 15,000 for the January deadline for a total of over 35,000.

I have not seen any estimates for this year, but it will likely be a similar number.

How many seats are available?

I only have rough numbers–alamemom may know the exact figures. They tend to aim for admitting about 2600 for which they accept around 8600. In recent years, more than expected have matriculated so they adjust by lowering the number for the next year by a hundred or so. Again–just rough numbers!

Thank you for your insight!

Last year there were 35,794 freshmen applicants. With the rise in SC’s national rankings I expect this year SC will receive over 36,000 applications. It is only a guess…

The admissions committee also has to process about 10,000 transfer applications which are received in early February.
