sorry if this reply is already posted somewhere..
i'm just really curious since yale deferred over 60% of its applicants during the SCEA round.. just wondering whether stanford had a lower/higher deferral rate.. thanks!

Stanford deferred about 10%... so it's a lot lower, yeah...

Supposedly Stanford deferred about 10% of its pool. The school is known for rejecting people outright rather than deferring them when it doesn't think they could get in. So being deferred is an accomplishment in and of itself.

Where did you guys see the 10% thing? In the email it says that 10% of deferrees are accepted in the regular round, so if that's where you are getting the number, then that's incorrect.

I really want to know this too!

yeap where did people see this 10% thing?

I got deferred.
Everything's not lost. I'm surprised I even got deferred along with our valedictorian who totally deserved to get in.
I hope we all get accepted in April. :(

I actually believe that they defer >10%. Not sure if this really matters, but tons of people got deferred at my school and they were not impressive in any way. A lot of people on CC got deferred too, but that probably has more to do with the caliber of the students on this board =] Also, most of the legacies get a deferral, if they don't get in. This happened to my high school many times, and they did not end up getting in afterwards.
