How many subject tests are enough?

I am giving Math 2 and World History. The website says 2 but will I still be in contention with only 2 tests ?
( I’m an international students from India,so it will be competitive)

Do you mean that you will be taking Math 2 and World History? Yes, Brown only requires 2, unless - based on what I understand - you take the ACT Plus Writing test. Since Brown only look at your two highest scores, it would be to your advantage to take more than 2.

I hope this helps!

i have the same question
I'm taking two humanities: US history and literature and will probably hit 750 on both

Is this high enough?

Should I do a third SAT 2? i was thinking world history

0 is enough if you're doing ACT plus writing.

brown14, I don't think taking World History would strengthen your case too much. It would probably be better to take a math or science one, instead of 2 history ones and an english one.

Better to broaden range of SAT ii's...or focus on the ones that are relevant to your major. Take 3 though because I know some of the top schools require 3 SAT ii's.

Plus, I got my 2nd 800 by taking my 3rd SAT ii test, so it never hurts to try as long as you're sure you know the material.

im terrible at math and science so that is why i cant do those
i figured a third humanity wuld be better than doing one of those

Brown looks at your two highest scores. If you score well (above 650 or 700) you can stop at two.

It's fine if they are not math or science, for the very reason you give.

And you don't need to know your major yet, so there is no reason to base your SAT IIs around your major.

I know that I am not required to take SAT IIs because I took the ACT with writing but if I did take two and did well would they help at all?

They wouldn't hurt, that's for sure.

fireanddrain: are u sure those are good scores for Brown?

i figured that i pretty much had to have 750 + definitely....hopefully i can get close to 800

^brown14: I would trust fireandrain out of all the CC posters above, because fireandrain is actually an official Brown interviewer, based on what I remember from reading the Brown boards. But even though a 650 or a 700 on the SAT Subject is considered good enough, remember that like everything else that you do, you should always do the best you can.

Obviously the higher the score the better. But a score of 650 on an SAT II is not going to be a deciding factor on admission, assuming your GPA is good and you've taken a challenging curriculum. If your application is strong and they want to accept you, they aren't going to say, "Oh geez, he scored 650 on the biology SAT II so we've changed our mind."

I am an interviewer, and have been for 30+ years, and know a fair amount about admissions from Brown personnel.
