I want to apply to Harvard, and other Ivy League schools. I know they only require two, but is more better? Should I take as many as I can? Help

I plan on taking three and sending in my best two. Perhaps you should do the same.

It depends on how good the third score is. Harvard prefers three good scores over two good scores.

So three is good?

three is the requirement.

No, now it’s three

SRY! TWO is the new requirement

Oh you’re right. It’s two now.

Which is why I suggested picking out your best two.

Of course, there’s no harm in sending all three if you scored well in them.

In fact, there is a benefit.

so harvard only requires 2? i thought they required 3 for some reason…

and how long does it take to prep for subject tests? like, is it a long, tedious process, or can you finish prepping for one test in a matter of a couple weeks in the summer?

i need to prep for ACT + 3 sub. tests…would this be possible in 2 summer months packed with baseball as well? (wanna score very high in all of them too…like 780 and stuff)

Quite true. :)

They just changed their policy for next year: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/891064-harvard-now-requires-only-two-subject-tests.html.

ah, i see. So, if my curriculum kinda sucks how much time would it take to prep for 2 (maybe 3) subject tests? it is very time consuming or is it relatively easy to score 780-800?

If you’ve taking precalc and/or trig (and you do some studying on the side to make up for what you haven’t learned), Math 2 shouldn’t be too difficult because the scoring curve is a bit easier than Math 1. For something like chemistry, it helps to have taken AP Chemistry or a rigorous Chemistry Honors course. I’m taking my Math 2 and Chem exams in June (probably with World History) and I’m using prep books from Kaplan and Princeton Review.

For the history tests, it definitely helps to have a teacher who is good at explaining topics and relating them to each other. I’ll see how good I am (and how good my teacher is) once the score reports for the June test come out.
