I'm applying to six (excluding NYLF because it's just a fun but not prestigious experience and I do not intend to go without a full scholarship)

They have super low acceptance rate and make me want to cry every time I start to type the required essays out ...

Do you think that it is too many? too few? enough? How many are you applying to?

There is no such thing as applying to too many summer programs (in my opinion), except when you have to cut the amount of time spent for each one, decreasing the quality of the applications. If this is not the case, then you should be fine. I am applying for 4 summer camps (Phillips Exeter, CTY, Stanford debate, and NLSC). These programs are just for having a good time and probably don’t have the low acceptance rates that you seem to be suffering from. Also, what grade are you currently in?

i applied to six, but four are prestigious (e.g. low acceptance rates) while the other are local.
applying to more = more options if you are accepted to multiple. plus, because YOLO, you should apply anyways… you never know!!!(:
