How many teacher recs?

What would you say is the max number of rec letters you can ask from a teacher without bothering them too much?

Also, for those that have already applied, how many teachers/letters did you have to ask for? I'm trying to figure out which teachers I'm going to ask.

i asked 2 of my teachers to write 15 for me. they didnt mind since they knew how insecure i was about my chances

Ask them if they will write the recommendations, and then ask if # is too many. If you are ashamed of how high # is, then you might be applying to too many schools. Just be sure to provide the teacher with supporting documentation about yourself. Give them a list of your EC's and other information about yourself. After it's all over, write thank-you notes.

I guess I'm missing something. Don't you ask a teacher for rec and use the same one for every school you apply to? Do you mean you asked her for 15 copies?

well each school needs you to fill out different forms. also some schools ask the teachers questions along with the letter

For the actual letter part, does the teacher just write one generic letter and then switch the college names around to make multiple recs?

I'd assume that's what most teachers do unless there's something special about one of the colleges...

My teachers just used the common app form and sent copies. They kept the letter saved so when I needed letters for scholarships and things, they could alter them a little. I guess colleges that don't use the common app would need different forms.

would it be good to send in recs from internship mentors too?
