how many times can i take the SAT??

ok so ive seen alot of kids saying that they have taken the sat like 4 or 5 times i thought that all colleges then averaged your score after the third time is that true??

what about if you took it 3 times but just to get a merit scholarship want to take it a fourth will the college still average it or take it if u did better?????????

Maybe colleges do...but wouldn't a college want high SAT scores so they could report it on USN, thus moving their ranks up?

it really depends on the college. I don't think they would average them for a scholarship, but I guess they could...

As many times as you want - some colleges will not consider scores after the 3rd attempt.

UCs and some other public schools dont care how many times you take it, all they want to see is the highest score. for private schools, taking it more than 3 times is pretty bad.

Actually practically all the private schools I talked to said that it doesn't matter how many times you take the SATs - what they look for is the general trend in your scores (up/down/stagnant). Of course, they also said that if you take the test say, 10 times, they'd start wondering why you have nothing better to do on your Saturdays =P
