I actually scored 30 points lower on my 2nd try, but increased 20 pts to my highest combined....pathetic, wasted 3 hours and 40ish bucks for nothing lol

took it twice, no prep, in january and march of junior year and called it quits. shoulda broke 2000 (i got 1950), but didn't care too much (so far it hasn't brought me any rejections)

Definitely helped me--my score went up 280 points between my 1st and 3rd time. As long as you're committed to upping your scores and motivated enough to continue studying, it will definitely help you.

Once, at the end of my sophomore year. I got 2150. Should've done it again to bump up to 2200 but I intensely disliked the idea of prepping again...

Okay, I've been following this thread for a while and think it's helpful to see who is not taking the SAT at all. With a 210 PSAT (in CA) I'll be NM commended, not semifinalist. Have a 34 ACT in my pocket and see no reason to take the SAT. SAT 2s, yes... but don't see the SAT doing me any good at my target schools.

Can I become a member of the "Fourth Time Club" if I'm taking the ACT for the 4th time?

after the 2nd time, i took the ACT, and did better (probably because i took it senior year, instead of taking it junior year like i did w/ the SAT)

Isn't it really bad for top colleges [Ivies, public Ivies] to see you've taken the SAT 3 times?
I just took the March SAT and did terrible on it. It was my second time, and I'm not sure whether I should take it a 3rd time or just try ACTs. :[
