How many times have you changed your major?

Just wondering. What year too and from what majors to what? How about professional plans? Were you pressured into pursuing Pre-Med? Pre-Law? Pre-Whatever? Engineering? Why did you change? Double-majors? Minors?

I went from Information Technology to Biology. Being inspired by Nip/Tuck, excelling in a general bio class, and frustration with C Programming led me to switch.

I chose IT initially because my dad kept saying pre-med to me and I wanted something different. I realized my strong point was science. I really enjoy what I'm doing now. Never do I wish the semester would go by faster.

Started off with biology with no particular specialization. Took some classes. Exercised the possibility of doing research. Found out I had neither patience nor passion for running through journal articles or working in the lab. Not interested in pursuing graduate work or pre-health of any sorts. Abandoned the idea.

Social Sciences --> History. Graduate/Professional School in the future in terms of academia or law. Not satisfied with anything less than post-undergraduate work. Pursuing research in social sciences this year. Minors? Interested in education and music history. Have to abandon plans and simply self-study. Need to get out of school in 3 years. Incoming second-year student. Exercised the possibility of an English major. I love literature but could not stand the subjectivity; it also took the fun out of reading lit. History is not as bad in terms of sub. Still, <3 <3 <3.

I changed once last year as a freshman.

Went from "Biological Sciences" to "Molecular and Cell Biology", because I found the required courses much more interesting. As a biological sciences major, I would've had to take a bunch of ecology/evolutionary biology and physiology/neurobiology classes I had no interest in. I prefer the molecular and cell bio courses, and I can also take the few physiology/neurobio classes I'm interested in rather than being forced to take several I don't like.

I started as a Mechanical Engineer. Mainly because engineering is what my school is known for and mechanical was the broadest form. After two semesters and a few seminars required for one of my scholarships, I realized I did not want to be an ME. More calculation based than I previously anticipated.

Attending various other seminars for other majors and getting a summer internship in a lab made me switch to Biochemistry, and I love it.

Biology/Ecology major & English minor -> Classical Civilization major & Earth/Ocean Sciences minor

Went from a BS Bio major to a double BA Bio/BS Health and Exercise Science. I had a brief exploration into business last year, because my mom kept harassing me to try out business, but it was clearly not for me...I wouldn't really count it, because I was only serious about it for about a week or two.

Well.. I always planned on double majoring- I just added a major! I "accidentally" got a minor in political science by the end of my freshman year, so I figured I might as well major in it! My minor has changed several times though and it's still fluid.

Never actually switched, but have considered changing to chemical engineering and business a few times. I have, though, changed from pre-law to pre-med, but that doesn't require an actual change of major.

I've known for years that I wanted to major in IR, and that's what I'm doing. I love it because its interdisciplinary. The real question is my double major - I have enough time to do one and I want to, but I'm having a really hard time deciding between Economics and Political Science. I'm good at them both and love them both... and I have no idea what I want to do with my life other than probably keep going to school (Grad School/Law School). That's the thing... I'm good at Econ, but I won't have taken enough math to get into a top grad school program (I don't really have time if I want to finish in four years), but Econ is definetly more marketable than Poli overall. Also, if I do Econ there are tons of in-school requirements so I'd have to stay in Van, but I could probably do an exchange if I choose Poli. Deciding sucks...!

I went from Anthropology to Religious Studies to Anthropology AND Religious Studies to Anthropology AND International Relations.

Don't know how it happened exactly, a few polisci classes piqued an interest, but I enjoy both subjects a lot. Though I'll probably be using my IR major for the job search, and my Anth one for street cred.

We don't declare until the end of sophomore year, but what I have though I watned to do has changed from:
Business to Accounting to History to Political Science to Classics and now it is back to History...

I switched from Computational Media (think CS + Media studies) to Nuclear Engineering a couple weeks into my first year.

Yeah we don't officially declare until the end of sophomore year too. If one wanted to become a science major, one would need to complete the pre-reqs ASAP since the courses are so dependent on each other. Even worse if you want to do engineering. I managed to switch just after using my science classes after GEs. The same goes for our English major at least where one needs to complete an ABC sequence where B is dependent on A and C dependent on B.

I went from Athletic Training to Marketing (w/ sports emphasis) at the semester break freshman year...but now I don't know what I want to do. I did an internship for my school's athletic dept this summer and it was cool for a while but then I realized sitting in an office all day long is NOT what I want to do. Would still like to work in marketing for a sports team, but hopefully something more hands on like gameday promotions....and I started working for my school's football team as an Equipment Manager, and I LOVE it because it's hands on, we don't stare at a computer or answer phones all day, and we get to work one on one with athletes. I haven't looked into it much as a career (I'm only a sophomore) but I've heard options are somewhat limited for girls in the field :(

Oh well...still have a while before I graduate!

Geology --> Mech Engineering --> Math

I decided that I wanted to do medicine after 1.5 years of Uni, so I switched into math, because I already had so many math credits; which would allow me to do the med prereqs and graduate in 4 years.

Only once.

From political science to philosophy and economics.

Fashion Merchandising --> Dance.

Mechanical Engineering (for a semester) --> English and English Education (for a few weeks) --> English major and Physics minor.

I decided that I wanted to get a Masters in Education, and it turned out that working with the 5-year masters program would really free up my schedule, so I jumped at it.
